Kashi Nagari in Lakme Fashion Week 2015

If you’ve already gone on my about page Kajal Mishra, you’d know I belong from Varanasi and I am really proud of this holy place. I graduated from world no. one university “Banaras Hindu University” and I am proud of my alma matter too.

And now I have one more reason to be happy, my city Kashi Nagari is going to be featured in Lakme Fashion Week 2015.

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 presents

‘Re-invent Banaras’ on Indian Handlooms & Textiles Day

In association with Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India

~ Shaina N.C. curates ‘Re-invent Banaras’ with India’s leading designers for the upcoming season~

~ Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum lends support by hosting a special exhibition on Banarasi textiles~

~ Introducing ‘Varanasi Weaves’ collection by Padma Shri Ritu Kumar to be showcased at Lakmé Fashion Week on Indian Handlooms & Textiles Day~

Varanasi is probably one of the few cities left which preserve that old look of cities, temples and crowd. Now with LFW 2015 it will not only be a city of temple but it will also make mark in the fashion industry too. It’s a proof that it’s not about being a small or large town to be successful. It’s about hard work and consistency.

I remember giving a speech on Kashi at BHU, even at that time I was saying about temple and banarsi pan etc. But now I will  have more reasons to celebrate my city.

Varanasi is famous for Banarsi saree but didn’t get enough exposure. It’s high time we grow this industry and make it mainstream.

I would be covering the LFW 15 in August, for live updates follow me on instagram, facebook, twitter, google plus and pinterest. If you’re looking to follow just the Varanasi collection, look for hashtag #reinventbanaras

Stay healthy and stay blessed.

Love <3
