Disclaimer: The inner Carrie Bradshaw within me is going to take over this blog.
P.S – I have been a crazy fan of her winter looks.
Personal story in a line, ‘Winters are amazing until you have to leave your bed and blanket to dress up to go anywhere.’ I love fashion but everything takes a backseat in the winters. The struggle begins with the thought that ‘I want to look good’ but how is that possible with piles of clothes that I am going to drown myself in! If you are anything like me, you would have related to a fashion blog more than anytime else.
Dressing up chic in winters always sounded unrealistic to me until I figured out creating a winter capsule wardrobe for myself. You have seen those girls who wear really fancy winter clothes and look so well put together? I wanted to be them. The hack to be ‘that girl’ is to have a winter capsule wardrobe.
Now that sounds like a lot of investment, doesn’t it? But, what if I say that you can build it up to 75% with things that you already have in your closet.
What is a Winter Capsule Wardrobe
A capsule wardrobe is nothing but having a few essential staples that you can restyle in various ways. Also, having a capsule wardrobe means investing in pieces that do not go out of fashion for a long time.
Let me give you 9 winter fashion staples to create a winter capsule wardrobe.
-
Versatile Turtle Necks
Starting with the most common but the chicest winter piece that we all must have in our wardrobe. It is nothing but a (or more) turtle neck. Throw something on them, wear them as it is, layer them, play around with the bottom, and you would be fine.
A turtle neck with a piece of comfy joggers is my go-to outfit for the winter. They are less demanding that do not require any extra effort.
My favourite hack for the winters is to wear a turtle neck and tuck it into fake a cropped illusion and pair it with wide-legged pants. Super chic!
There are days when I want to go dressier. On those days, I layer something on the top of my turtle neck. All you need to do is layer a strappy top over the turtle necks.

2. Puffer Jackets in Winter Capsule Wardrobe
Being a fashion lover and ignoring the trendy pieces is kind of a task, isn’t it? Puffer jackets are those stylishly trendy pieces!
Style them ‘up’ with your denim pants, trench coat, and statement tops for a party look.
To style the puffer jackets ‘down’, pair them with wide-legged pants, joggers, or any trousers for that matter.

3. Denim Jackets – The OG BFF
You cannot think about winters without a denim jacket, right?
They are so easy to pair with anything and also beat the winters. Also, if you are not doing the denim on denim look for once, are you even a winter fashionista!

4. Easy Peasy Wide-Legged Pants
Wide-legged pants are hands down the most fashionable piece the fashion industry have given us. I mean fashion with comfort with pockets. Yes, always a big yes! They allow you to restyle in several ways and create lots of looks. Oh, all while you stay comfortable!
Last winter, the cropped cardigans with the cropped inners were very popular. Gonna totally restyle it this year too!

5. Chunky Cardigans FTW
You might think these are easy for the days when you don’t want to dress up enough and go just the old school way, right?
Well, this is true because they are statement outfits and speak out loud.
But, also, they have been quite trending for the last two years. Chunky sweaters never let you do wrong. Also, they are totally versatile to restyle enough times.
6. Long Cardigans/Trench Coats
Here comes the head turner that you were probably waiting for until now! Trench coats or long cardigans!
Undoubtedly they are the most fashionable winter pieces to invest in. They can take your whole winter outfit game to the next level. A hack for these is to invest in neutral shades so that you can re-wear them.
Personally, the soft girl look is what I love the most. Hence, I have styled these in that way.

7. Leather, but Make it Faux
Talking about creating a chic winter capsule wardrobe and not including leather pieces will be a sin. Of course, I don’t want to be a fashion sinner!
Having any leather piece like a jacket, skirt, pants, tights, top, turtle neck, shorts, or anything is always a yes. They keep you warm for sure while you get compliments like ‘you carry yourself so well’.
Oh, if it is faux leather, it is better because we believe in sustainable fashion.

8. Statement Maxi Skirts
There are higher chances that you were not expecting this one! But, to get into that high street winter fashion look, you need some out of the box pieces.
The statement maxi skirts are winter-appropriate for the light winters. For heavy winter nights, you could complete the look with a knee-high boot. See, now that’s a New York street style kinda look!

9. Final in Winter Capsule Wardrobe – Boots
The 9th most important staple for creating your winter capsule wardrobe is the boots. Boots are blessed to have that iconic look. If you are someone who can style the boots with everything, you are a fashion genius.
I am still waiting to wear a slit maxi dress with a leather jacket and knee-high boots and get a street style candid picture clicked.
Until then here’s a picture of a gorgeous trending boot of the season you could buy.
Take my word when I say if you have any 6 of the above-mentioned pieces in your wardrobe also, you are good to go. You have a pretty strong winter capsule wardrobe to nail some stylish winter fashion looks.
If you are planning to shop for winters, go ahead and buy some of these staples. They will last you longer and will never go out of fashion.
