The biggest fashion event of the country began on October 7th with a ball and like Day 1, Day 2 at AIFWSS 2016 also celebrated some of the major talent of the country. Day 2 of five day Amazon India Fashion Week SS 2016 started with a bang with three designers, Pratima Pandey, Rasa Jaipur and Tanvi Kedia, opening the show. All the three designers put forward a different theme, with different cuts and structures.
Pratima Pandey’s collection titled “The Melody Affair” dazzled the audience with earthy and neutral clothes fit for Indian summer wedding. According to the designer the collection celebrates life, friends, family and oneself. Sheer silhouettes, Ari and Parsi embroidery, neutral color pallets in simple cuts, this one collection is definitely toping our summer wedding list.
Rasa Jaipur created magic with print on the runway. All of his garments were ready to wear clothes in crepe, chiffon, and georgette silhouettes. Prints imposed on the fabrics lit up the runway. Designer Tanvi Kedia’s collection was inspired from her travel to Morocco and other Islamic countries in Asia. The collection was a repository of vivid colours popping up on neutral with a flowy edge to them.
Again at Hemant and Nandita’s show it was a print heavy collection, set up in 1960s. Bold print pattern, gladiator sandals, big sunnies, Hemant and Nandita’s collection sure takes us five decades back. Pallavi Mohan’s “Summer Kaleidoscope” collection showcased some brilliant see through, transparent fabrics with kaleidoscopic prints on them. Flowing mini dresses, sheer skirts, striped sheer crop-top teamed up with high-waist palazzos, her collection is definitely the hottest trend for the summer.
In for a game of tennis, anyone? This is exactly what Anand Bhushan created on the ramp at AIFWSS 2016. His collection “DEUCE” draws inspiration from tennis, with ramp covered with grass and model sporting one piece short tennis dresses, halter neck dresses, sheer neck-thigh split gowns etc. all in sporty yet classy designs. Designer Dev r Nil presented a beautiful collection with simple monochrome spiced up with tangerine and mango prints. Prints were mostly floral and foliage teamed up with lacework and embroideries.
Designer Samant Chauhan collection was a party in the hues of red, gold orange and whites. His collection was inspired from the Queen of Kinnaur, the designer very meticulously presented gorgeous gowns and capes in silk silhouettes. Adding to the royal feel were the head gears, going perfectly with the rich garments.
Payal Pratap’s collection “Vintage Rose” portrayed hi-fashion dramatic fitted silhouettes with rose patterns. Her collection was also filled with her signature style cross-stich embroidery on structured dresses. Ashish N Soni dazzled the ramp with pleats and pants in remarkable tailoring. Textured clothes, washed denims, fish scale prints, a touch of shimmer, Ashish N Soni presented the Spring-Summer 2016 in all new avatar.
Day 2 at AIFWSS 2016 was an extravaganza of shows and informative events. One such event which took place earlier on Day 2, was Fashion Forward Talks presented by Border and Fall. The event was an extensive session to take a closer look at the design through the senses, hence the tag line of the event, An Eternal Feast: Feeding The Five Senses. The 90 mins session witnessed the veteran like Priya Kishore, Sudharshan Shetty.
