Hello peeps! 2018 is almost over. Can’t really beleive its already December. All of us are super excited about the upcoming events and celebrations of Christmas, Carnivals and New year. Amidst all of these, it’s important to sum up the whole year and end it right way. The entire year has been a roller coaster ride for me with ups and downs, highs and lows. Perhaps this is the case of many of you as well. There were times I felt like I’m at the top of the world. And there were times everything around felt so chaotic and cluttered up. And like every other year, life has taught new lessons to make me better, stronger and happier person.
This time, I decided to list the best lessons I have learnt this year and share them with you while I usually list them in my personal journal at the end of every year. I totally hope you’ll either relate or learn from this. Here are seven of my favourite lessons of 2018!
1. Take responsibility of your own lives!
It sounds so obvious but itsn’t. Taking responsibility of your own life is taking responsibility of your mental and physical health, taking responsibility of your sins and mistakes, taking responsibility of your successes and failures, taking responsibility of every other thing in your life whether or not you are willing to accept it. In a clearer context, you ain’t supposed to blame anyone or anything for anything happening in your life. You ain’t supposed to give excuses and explanations to yourself or to anyone. Because, you are the one who is wholly responsible for everything you are and you will continue to be.
You might be wondering how is this going to make you better. It does. When you accept that you are responsible for where you are and what is happening to you, you don’t hold grudges and hate towards people, situations or things. Instead you’ll put efforts into what’s your role to make the situation better. This as a result makes you a better person. Practising this is so simple. When something happens, think about the root cause of the problem, you’ll surely find yourself somewhere. Somewhere where you went wrong or somewhere where you could have done better that would not have brought you here today. Yes, that’s where you should concentrate. That is how you are responsible for it. Now that you know you’re somehow responsible for this, you should accept and figure out the solution and resolve it without complaining.
2. Always focus on possibilities!
Sometimes things happen to you that turn you upside down, make you feel utterly devastating. You feel like it’s the end of the world. Trust me, it’s not. Better things are ahead for you. But, only when you start focussing on possibilities instead of regretting anything you did. Stop showing sympathy towards yourselves for anything that had happened to you. It is absolutely okay. Think about what is this trying to teach you. Focus on how you can make the situation better.
If someone is being mean to you, it is not your fault. But, ignoring them is your responsibility. If you make a blunder without intending to, it is not your fault. But, not repeating the same one next time is your responsibility. When someone leaves you for no reason, it is not your fault. But, moving on is absolutely your responsibility. That is where you have to FOCUS. Things will get much better when you start working on the possibilities. That is how it works!
3. Practise Gratitude!
When too many things are going on in your brain and life , it’s hard to manage things. It’s tough to accept and let go things that are going wrong. But you should learn to do it. Stop taking things too seriously. It will be philosophical of me to say that , we are here today with all basic facilities while many in the world are struggling for food and shelter. But you can’t deny that. So start being grateful for everything and everyone you have in your life.
Think about the days you were dreaming of being where you already are. You did it right? Appreciate yourself for that. Be proud of the journey you have done so far. Between all the chaos, ups and downs. Just take a second to stop, BREATHE and let go off anything that is holding you back. Gain your peace back, thank the ones that have your back and go on!
“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” -Eckhart Tolle
4.Be gentle to yourself!
Sometimes when you mess up things or do something in a way you didn’t want to , you stress so much on yourselves. It sometimes happens to me. I feel so anxious about something unimportant. And then I feel more anxious for getting anxious. Funny right?
Firstly, you should accept that it’s okay to be anxious, it’s okay to do mistakes. We are all humans and we have flaws. Nobody is perfect. The more you stress on yourselves, the more depressing and demotivated you feel. Do not do that. We always want things to be so perfect and in that constant attempt of chasing perfection and making ourselves impeccable, we pressurise ourselves so much.
Relax. Being at your peace is more important than being perfect. Given sometime in your day to groom yourselves mentally and physically. Its not just the world around you that needs your love and care. YOU also need it. Go on a self date. Treat yourself with your favourite food. Just make yourself happy, the way you expect someone else to do. Because Come’on You are your first priority. Just incase you are not. Remember, you should be!
5. Stick to your ethics and values!
Whatever the situation is, do not forget to be what you are. You do not have to be a different person to impress someone or be liked by a set of people. You find people around you tantalizing you or influencing you intentionally or unintentionally. Observing them is important. What is more important is , not deviating from your root values. If you know it’s wrong, it’s wrong. End of the story.
Do not believe in any person, thing or social media post influence you or guide you in a wrong direction. Consider the opinions of all. Listen to everything and everyone. But when you do something, you better make sure you will not feel ashamed or guilty for doing it by listening to someone or believing in something which you later found unreal. Because such mistakes stay forever and keep haunting you constantly all throughout your life.
6. Let time work it out!
This one is my favourite of all the lessons I have learnt this year. It’s not always about you putting efforts into something. Some times you put too many efforts in one direction and all you see is things back firing at you. When this happens, you start wondering why is it not working besides your honest and continuous efforts. But you know what, thats not how it works. Putting efforts is all okay, but expecting the results too quick isn’t right. Give it some time. Do not panic for things not working out at this moment. They will. And may be, there are other things where your efforts are required right at the very moment. May be, you should also concentrate on them.
If you are going through something bad, something good is awaiting you. Because this is how life works. Happiness followed by sorrows and the cycle repeats. That’s how life is amazing. A little of everything makes it a perfect blend! Just always believe in The law of attraction. I am a strong believer of Karma , Law of attraction and all other laws of nature. Okay, let me explain it. Basically, Law of attraction says that, when you focus on something seriously, and put efforts in the right direction constantly, the Universe will make it happen no matter what. But again, this may require time and patience. Just believe it will happen and let time work it out. Practise this, you’ll feel great in many situations. Just be okay with the fact that Time also requires time to work things out 😛
Everything works itself out!
7. Believe in intuitions!
I know it sounds bizarre and a bit unconventional. And not all of you will agree with it. But I really perceived things happening many times around , that I made it a habit to believe in my gutt feeling. I have not much to say or convince about this. But sometimes, its good to do things when you have a strong urge to do them. You’ll not atleast repent later. Because at the end what many of us do is, regretting the chances we didn’t take. Do not let that happen. Just go with it if you are feeling like doing it. Just think, what worse can happen. Then, I’m sure you will get the courage to do that. If you are okay with the worst case, you should definitely give it a try. And if it works, believe me, you can’t be more captivated!
“I believe in intuitions and inspirations. I sometimes feel that I am right. I do not know that I am.”
