Got an Indo-western outfit but it doesn’t look as flattering as it looks on the mannequin? We know why! Mannequins are not real bodies and what fits a dummy does not go with every body types. So the trick is to buy clothes according to your body type especially when they are indo-western because they are made of unusual cuts, structures, styles and silhouettes. And how to choose Indo-Western according to your body type? Read on, we tell you how! Happy Indo-western shopping next time! 😀
#1 Apple Shaped
You are: Little big on bottom or tummy, but have slender limbs with slim arms and legs.
You should: Draw focus on arms and legs, take away attention from waist/bottom.
What to wear: Outfits that are loose on waist, with gathers or pleats. A-line kurta, deep neckline work best. Always remember not to get baggy pants and never over-accessories neckline or wear closed necks. Also dupatta on sides looks better than dupatta on the neck.
#2 Pear Shaped
You are: Narrow on top and shoulders with big bottoms, somehow triangular.
You should: Draw focus on slimmer upper body and take attention away from heavy bottom.
What to wear: Anarkalis top or top with flares paired up with salwars and patialas. Avoid clingy outfits and tight bottoms. Embellished and over-accessorized top look good.
#3 Hourglass shaped
You are: Curvaceous, with proportionate shoulders and hips, smaller waist and slender legs.
You should: Draw attention on your assets.
What to wear: Things that bring attention to your assets, anarkali, peplum top with fitted pants, flared tops with fit bottom are best picks. Sarees with a twist also look great! Show off your waist with bare waist dresses. Just avoid ill-fitting clothes that will make you look big.
#4 Rectangular shaped
You are: a simple straight body without curves.
You should: Draw attention on everything since there are no curves.
What to wear: Almost every indo-western will suit your body type. But for starters you can go with unusual cuts and silhouettes. Incorporate many cuts in one outfit like deep/wide necks with flares/peplum etc. Just don’t wear anything body hugging or too tight.
#5 Inverted triangle shaped
You are: heavy on top, small on bottom with straight and squared shoulder line and flat hips.
You should: Create volume on your lower half and keep upper half fuss free and clean.
What to wear: Straight cut tops, wrap tops, split tops with flared or fuller pants and skirts. Peplum top with Patiala pants. Straight cut top with flowy skirt.
