Day one at the iconic fashion event was filled with the splendid collection, carefully crafted designs, and fashion jingbang. We bring you the highlights of day one through eyes of Indian Fashion Blogger, so read on!

Day one at AIFW AW 2017 kick started today on a very special note. Luxury retailer Good Earth, the Handloom School of Woman Weave and some of the finest designers of fashion industry joined hands to bring an impeccable show dedicated to Indian handloom. The show was filled with contemporary designs brought to life with fabric woven by students of the handloom school. Be it layered ensembles, classy pant-suits, flowy dresses, sophisticated drapes, everything was beautifully crafted by the designer brigade consisting of names such as Akaaro, Neeru Kumar, Eka, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Sanjay Garg, Eleven Eleven. Rohit Bal and Suket Dhir. What a splendid show!

The next show that left us smitten was Krishna Mehta’s. The show started off with a dance performance and what led after that could only be described as indo-fusion dreams.  The show had many interesting combinations, imagine coats and long skirt, flowy frock top paired up with dhoti and bets of all traditional sharara all revamped and modernized!

If you love silk as much I do, then you are in for a treat! Madhu Jain painted the ramp red, black and white with silk galore. Ethnic and indo-fusion outfits all made with rich Banarasi fabric, this show checks all the right boxes for me. The USP of the show was the pure fabrics presented in different colors from pastel to dark. This show was truly a treat to eyes and senses!

If you want to sass up your office wear while keeping to your desi roots, Abraham and Thakore’ show is the one to consult. The designer duo brought together the magnificent pure cotton fabrics and un-contemporary designs, and the result was nothing short of mind blowing. Fancy wearing your comfy lungi with a shirt to your office, you know what collection you have to turn to! 😀

Another designer duo that stunned us on the ramp was Devika and Ambika! The duo’s label Dabiri brought us straight into snow wonderland with white and pastel outfits embellished with starry work. Classic pieces paired up exquisite embroidery or modern silhouettes with a touch of ethnic? What’s your pick?

Other than these designers, Shaina N.C, Rina Dhaka,  Shruti Sancheti, spread their magic on the ramp. Day one was glorious, and we cannot wait for day two to begin! Stay tuned and watch this space, as more fashion week madness is yet to come!
