Lookbook: Cracking style code for the D-day!

The D-day dressing is one of the trickiest for all Bridesmaids. One has to strike a right balance of trendy and traditional without looking too overdone. Think color palette, silhouettes, make-up, and jewellery all co-ordinated and beautifully done. So choosing the right outfit doesn’t get a task for you, today I bring you what and how of the wedding ceremony outfit. What I chose, how I chose and all the pomp and show!

I always knew what I didn’t want to wear as a bridesmaid. Entirely traditional outfits, monochrome saree, pastel only attires are done to death and are so last season. So instead of going for these conventional attires I looked for something fresh, something that I have never tried before. I browsed through collections and designers and I found this green and blue raw silk lehenga from Soucika. What strike me about this outfit are the colors. Greens and blues are something I never thought of wearing for a wedding, it’s always for the pre-wedding ceremonies. The color palette of this outfit is so fresh and not traditionally exhausted. Also I like the gold embellishments, keeping the traditional grace with right kind of trend.

For jewellery, I had a look in my mind long before I even selected the outfit. I wanted something light, offbeat and traditional, so I chose to wear pearl jewellery. One thing I always wanted to wear is a pasa (headgear worn either side of the head), thus I decided my whole look around it. I wore big beautiful pearl pasa and as I didn’t want to wear truckloads of jewellery I matched the pasa with pearl necklace and jhumkas and my statement diamond finger ring. I love how the whole pearl look came together!

Since I was bridesmaid I went a bit ahead with make-up. This time I tried a pearly glow make-up and I loved the outcome. Light-weight foundation and lots of highlighter is becoming my thing lately. For eyes my make-up artist at Shahnaz Husain beauty salon suggested a vivid eye palette to compliment the look, so I went with green-pink eye-shadow and beautifully done double wing eyeliner. Also my vivid lips are must with every outfit hence pink lip shade!

To complete the look I wore golden sandals since my outfit had gold embellishments. Nothing too sparkly but still golden enough to spice everything up!
