Last month I visited Bangalore to cover Bangalore Fashion Week. On the last day of the trip we made a plan to visit Mysore and since I love travelling I was naturally excited to visit the place. Only one day was left and I decided to maximize it and visit as many places as possible.

According to me if you’ve visited these five places in Mysore, you will cover most of the things. Mysore is probably not a place where you’d like to stay for 3-4 days, you can quickly cover it in one day.

I booked my cab for Mysore, started journey at 4 am in morning and reached Mysore by 9:30am. 5 places which I visited in our Mysore trip:-

1. Mysore Zoo

We decided to go to the zoo first. Since it was 9:30 AM, it was not that crowded; which I realized was a good decision since it tend to be very crowded in weekends.

Saw two lions fight with each other, they’ve roaring so hard that it sent shivers in my body. I went to Delhi zoo earlier but never saw lions there, it was a very exciting sight for me.

I don’t know about other zoos of India but Mysore Zoo was the best in my experience. They covered a very large area and had varieties of animals with them. I was totally tired at the end after walking for almost more than an hour.

2.Mysore Palace

Mysore Palace also known as Mysore Maharaja Palace is one among the largest palaces in India. It is situated in the city’s center.

When I entered in palace my eyes stucked on dressings table of Queens. Can you imagine the dressing table which is made to see every part of your body i.e. for your upper face, back hair, below hair style etc.  I really loved that dressing table mirror.

As inside photography not allowed so I was unable to click picture. If you want to see then you have to visit by yourself.

3. Chamundi Hills

Chamundi Hills is 1065 meters above the sea level. It is just 3 kms from Mysore. The Chamundeshwari temple on top of the hill belongs to 11^th century. It was renovated in 1827. Half way up the hill, you will find and idol of bull, called Nandi. The specialty of the 5-meter tall statue is that it was sculptured out of a single rock in 1659. You need to climb 1000 steps to reach the Chamundeshwari temple.

I clicked some selfies at the top of the hills, we enjoyed the cold air and nice view from top. Since I am not a fan of temples, I decided to skip the temple and move onto my next destination. We had couple of icecreams and then we moved to our next destination.

4. Sand Museum

When we were on the way to Shivanasamudra Falls from Chamundi hills, we saw a sand museum on our way. I remember reading about it’s uniqueness and I was not disappointed.

They had some beautiful sand creation carved out. From mickey mouse to all mythological characters, they’ve carved out everything. It’s not something that you’d see easily on trps in India.

5.Shivanasamudra Falls

Shivanasamudra falls is located 85 kms away from Mysore. Shivanasamudra is an island town that divides River Cauvery into two falls. The two falls are named Gaganachukki Falls and Bharachukki Falls. Rated among the top 100 waterfalls all over the world, these falls offer spectacular view. Yet another specialty of Shivanasamudra is that it houses Asia’s first Hydroelectric Power Station.

It was a long journey and we lost our way few times. But we finally reached this water falls, I can not describe in words how much I enjoyed there, everyone should make this place a priority when visiting mysore.

We where lucky that they’re allowing to go below the waterfalls with round boats (few locals mentioned it was closed and that’s why this place does not see a surge of tourists). Because of this boat, we enjoyed by going in the water falls directly. It’s an awesome exeperience when water drops with that speed on your head. I never imagined I would witness something like that.

We had some quick snacks and then went for another round of boating.

We reached back Bangalore at 10:30 pm. Overall it was a day well spend and itched in the memory.

Oh my God, I forgot to share What I wore … hmmm. I wore my beautiful red colored designer dress from Jabong.  On one side it was sleeveless and other was covered with a transparent cloth. It was damn comfortable and since it was giving an elegant look it was apt for this kind of trip too.
